Patxi Barco

He has developed an extensive career in the world of entertainment and has worked in film, theatre and television. From 1977 to 1981 he was trained at the Barcelona Theatre Institute. He completes his preparation with several specialization courses, including his degree as a multi-camera filmmaker at the CEV in Madrid. In 2019 he writes and directs the musical show Incorrectas, the most recent production of Demode Quartet, participates in the feature film La ofrenda de la tormenta, directed by Fernando González Molina and participates in the serie La linea invisible, by Mariano Barroso. Director and Screenwriter of the 61st, 62nd, 63rd and 64th Galas of the San Sebastian International Film Festival (2013-2016) and the Fun & Serious Game Festival Awards Galas (2012, 2014 and 2016).

In 2016 he writes and directs the Inauguration ceremony of the European Cultural Capital Donostia 2016 and the XIII Gala of the Creative Club of Spain awards. He has directed two feature films for the big screen: El Final de la Noche (2004,) which was selected for the San Sebastian International Film Festival; El Cazador de Dragones (2010), the television film Sabin (2011) and four short films, Pase negro (1999), Mal de altura (2002), No hay cordones (2009) and Tres pesos (2016).

As an actor he has appeared in numerous film productions. Feature films such as Alfonso Ungría’s, La conquista de Albania; Javier Aguirre’s, La monja Alférez (1986); José Antonio Zorrilla’s, A los cuatro vientos (1987); Javier Aguirre’s,, El

polizón del Ulises (1987); José María Tuduri’s Crónica de la guerra carlista 1872-1876 (1988); Escorpión (1989) by Ernesto Tellería; Todos estamos invitados (2008) by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón or El cónsul de Sodoma (2010) by Sigfrid Monleón.

On television he has participated in series such as Javier ya no vive sólo, Plats Bruts, Policías, Periodistas, Hospital Central, Amar en tiempos revueltos, Sin tetas no hay paraíso ... As a screenwriter and director in programs for Basque television such as Kaixo 87, La Traka, Kaixo 89, Bertan Zoro and for other channels: La Bola de Cristal, Tercera Planta Inspección Fiscal (TVE) and Puerta Cerrada (Tele Madrid) As a TV director he has been responsible for programs such as Ciudadanos, by Carlos Sobera, or the comedy series Jaun ta Jabe, Kilker Dema, Metropolis or Bi eta Bat. He was also director of the 100th Anniversary Gala of the Athletic Club of Bilbao.

As a director and theatrical producer, he has participated in 16 shows for theatres, among others: Are you there?, The blackout, All Shakespeare or almost, Gentlemen’s Club, Thieves' Cave or By The Hair. He has written and directed the shows Los Golden en blanco y negro (2009) and Los Golden en serio (2010) of the Golden Apple Quartet. And in co-production with Los Golden the small-format musicals Galipotx (2006) Karabas (2008) and Goibel (2010) He has subsequently directed the shows Demode en Concierto (2011) and Epa! (2013) with his current company, Demode Quartet. In 2015 he co-directed with Fernando Bernues the production of Emilio Aragón Aire and in 2016 the Spanish adaptation of the Broadway musical Menopause with Charo Reina, Belinda Washington, Marta Valverde and Edith Salazar. In 2017 he premieres Todos los musicales o casi, the third show he writes and directs for Demode Quartet. In 2018 he directed at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba the Homage to the Cuban Choreographer Rayma Pérez and intervened as an actor in the English series Snach, La victima nº 8 (ETB/Telemadrid).
